This is an all purpose non-gelling thickening agent derived from vegetable oils. This versatile material is also an emollient, moisturiser, viscosity stabiliser, and foam enhancer. It can come in the form of odourless flakes which are insoluble in cold water, and only very slightly soluble in hot water and alcohol.

Personal care, Hair Care and cosmetics.
Uses
Must be melted and added to the hot oil phase of a mixture. Used in concentrations ranging from 0.5-5%
Cetyl Alcohol must be added to formulations in their heated oil phases. The higher the concentration of Cetyl Alcohol, the thicker the end product will be.
Benefits
Used to thicken non gelling mixtures and enhances viscosity. Can be used as an emulsifier if concentrations are in excess of 5% and can increase foaming when used with surfactants.
